- What guidelines should be established concerning how monies received by the state from the settlement of legal action are spent?
- The Attorney General's office has found a way to enforce consumer laws without any cost to taxpayers and has brought billions into the State. The only change that we would make to the Attorney General's office would require legislation. We would ask the Legislature to provide prosecutorial power to the Attorney General's office. We need to have prosecutorial authority for our consumer cases in which fraud is alleged and criminal fraud may be implicated in the underlying facts of the case. It is less expensive to taxpayers when one governmental authority has jurisdiction and is already familiar with the investigation.
