Personal Statement:

West Virginia, as does the nation, finds itself today standing at the dawn of a new era -- one of appropriate change and progress. Otherwise, our government will remain “business as usual”, which will leave us as bankrupt fiscally as we have become constitutionally. Progress requires leadership with vision -- now.
With more and more West Virginians lacking health insurance coverage, what would you do as governor to assure that affordable health care and prescription drug coverage is available and affordable for all West Virginians?
Maximize the options that are already available for most folks. Use a long-term approach that re-evaluates the overall efficacy of our system, with a close eye on freedom of choice in primary care, eliminating redundancy, and reducing bureaucracy. And we should focus more on preventative care, reducing overall medical costs.
What do you think needs to be done to address teacher shortage in subjects such as science, math, special education and foreign languages?
It all starts with educating our kids, who represent a vital link to our future prosperity, in these subjects. West Virginians don’t produce enough students to meet the demand for teachers in these subject areas. And I support pay raises to attract the best teachers into these crucial fields.
Please define your education agenda, prek-20, for improving the education system.
In short, improve it, broaden it, expand it, but most importantly make it accessible, for life. Everybody wins. Smaller class rooms, integrated learning.
Free education, for citizens of all ages, through constitutional taxes.
How would you balance the increasing demand for developing West Virginia energy resources while improving the quality of life and the environment?
Improve upon the “business as usual” plan. It’s failing our progeny and us.
We can create a new coal economy and diversify, which will make us the most energy rich state.
According to Forbes Magazine, West Virginia is 50th in business climate. How do you plan to improve the situation?
Get elected. Improve our quality of life, by supporting small business. We are rich, but we have been servile instead of free. “Mountaineers are always free”, now its time to vote to be free of the yoke of absentee ownership. We own our government, regardless of whether we believe or not.
