Personal Statement:

How will you balance the continuing costs of military action with the costs of domestic needs?
We are spending $12 billion each month in Iraq, while the Iraqi government is enjoying a $79 billion surplus as a result of high oil prices. Bring our brave troops home now with the honor they have earned and deserve. Focus on our needs here at home.
What should be done, if anything, to help young Americans, especially young West Virginians achieve greater financial security?
I believe in stimulating economic development at the local level, and restoring sound fiscal polices at the national level. I also believe in properly funding job training programs and making college more accessible and affordable. Education is the key ingredient for success.
What if anything should the federal government do to address our nation’s energy issues?
Open the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling. I also believe we should end the billions of dollars in tax breaks the giant oil companies now enjoy and use that money to help invest in clean coal technologies. Coal should be a central piece of any national energy plan.
What action must the federal government take to assure high quality health care is available to all Americans?
